Office 365, Mason’s email and calendar system, contains tools to support collaboration. This includes creating distribution lists for mass mailings, generic accounts for use by departments/clubs, and blocking unwanted messages (SPAM). In addition, you can request a change to how your name is displayed.


Microsoft allows George Mason University to provide the latest version of Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, and other Microsoft products at no cost. Access is tied to your Mason email address.

Canvas, George Mason's Learning Management System, contains many tools to support teaching and learning. A number of third party tools are integrated into Canvas, such as Kaltura, Poll Everywhere, Turnitin, Honorlock.


Banner is a closed system and an administrative interface that allows authorized users with legitimate needs to perform administrative duties within major functional areas. Patriot Web is a self-service site for students, faculty, and staff to manage their administrative records and accounts.


Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) offers a host of applications for seamless collaboration, communication, and productivity.


Webconferencing tools are available for use in classes and meetings.

Endpoint management services offer tools (JAMF PRo, BeyondTrust, SCCM, and Intune) to remotely support and manage devices in the Mason environment.


Qualtrics, GMU.Qualtrics.com, is a web-based survey tool to conduct survey research, evaluations, and other data collection activities. The Mason community can use this research suite to build and send surveys then analyze and export responses—all from any online location, 24/7.

Classroom Support provides assistance to faculty and staff for classroom facilities and computer classrooms.


Prior to purchasing software or hardware that will impact data management, storage, dissemination, security, involve controlled unclassified or sensitive data, or impact user experience, and to comply with Mason's procurement policy, the Technical Business Solution Intake Process must be initiated.


The Architectural Standards Review Board (ASRB) is responsible for reviewing, verifying compliance, and providing recommendations for new and upgrade software and hardware procurement projects.
