Enterprise Data Integration Services (EDIS) manages the ecosystem of interconnected applications to facilitate the flow of university data supporting daily operations. The team works with customers to design and develop data exchange interfaces enabling data producers to share information and facilitates the selection and utilization of these interfaces by data consumers. All data exchange and integrations implemented follow process to ensures data quality, compliance with standards, and security measures.
How We Can Help
For assistance with any of the following, select the "Click here to Request Integration Services" button below or at the top right of this screen.
EDIS provides five primary services: evaluating integration opportunities, building new integrations, enhancing existing integrations, supporting Patriot Connect-related integrations, and resolving production issues. These services support the full lifecycle of integration delivery, from planning and assessment through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support.
1. New Integration Request
Description
Request a new integration between a university system, vendor application, or third-party solution and a Mason authoritative system such as Banner, Salesforce, Canvas, or another enterprise platform. EDIS will assess requirements, determine the best integration approach, and design, build, test, and deploy the integration if approved. This service may include file exchanges, APIs, data synchronization, data migrations, or automated business processes.
Examples
- Connect a new vendor application to Banner.
- Create a new daily student data feed.
- Exchange employee or financial data between systems.
- Implement a new API-based integration.
- Support data migration activities for a new application implementation.
2. Change to an Existing Integration
Description
Request a modification to an existing integration, API, workflow, or automated data exchange. Changes may include new fields, updated mappings, schedule changes, endpoint updates, security updates, vendor-driven changes, or enhancements to existing functionality. Requests are reviewed to determine complexity and whether additional assessment or project planning is required.
Examples
- Add new fields to an existing data feed.
- Modify filtering or business rules.
- Change a vendor endpoint or API version.
- Update schedules or notifications.
- Support application upgrades that affect integrations.
3. Patriot Connect Request
Description
Request support for integrations, APIs, data exchanges, workflows, or data synchronization activities related to Patriot Connect (Salesforce Education Cloud). EDIS will review the request, determine the appropriate delivery approach, and coordinate implementation, testing, and deployment activities as needed.
Examples
- New Salesforce integration.
- Student or applicant data synchronization.
- API enhancements supporting Patriot Connect.
- Data quality or reconciliation support.
- Salesforce-related automation requests.
4. Integration Consultation and Feasibility
Description
Request EDIS assistance to evaluate a proposed integration, vendor solution, API, or data exchange requirement before implementation. EDIS will review available options, identify risks and dependencies, evaluate technical feasibility, and provide recommendations for implementation approach, effort estimates, and next steps.
Examples
- Assess a new vendor product.
- Evaluate available APIs.
- Review integration options during procurement.
- Develop a Level of Effort (LOE).
- Determine whether EDIS, a vendor, or an implementation partner should perform the work.
5. Report a Problem
Description
Report an issue with an existing integration, API, workflow, data feed, scheduled process, or automated data exchange. EDIS will investigate the issue, coordinate with vendors or support teams as needed, restore service when possible, and document corrective actions.
Examples
- A scheduled data feed did not run.
- Data is missing or incorrect.
- An API is failing.
- A file was not delivered.
- An integration is impacting business operations.
